ODESSA – Derrick Teegarden threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns and Odessa pulled away for a 45-13 victory over Lubbock High in the District 2-5A opener for both teams.

Angel Armendariz threw for 137 yards and a touchdown for the Westerners (0-2, 0-1 in 2-5A). Nathan Slaughter contined his nice season, catching seven passes for 105 yards and a score, a 27-yarder from Armendariz.
