• Classification: Junior

• Last week: Thomas’ arm helped lead the Golden Tornadoes to their first victory of the season. In a 24-7 win against Slaton, the talented Thomas completed 8 of 17 passes for 167 yards and a pair of touchdowns, both in the first half.

Washington

Class 2A Cooper Washington, Muleshoe

• Position: Receiver

• Height/weight: 6-5, 203

• Classification: Junior

• Last week: Washington was a key player in Muleshoe’s run to the title last year, and has taken on a bigger role as the No. 1 receiver in 2008. In a 27-7 win over Cooper, Washington caught seven passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns.

Martinez

Class 1A Aaron Martinez, Smyer

• Position: Running back

• Height/weight: 5-8, 175

• Classification: Senior

• Last week: In a weekend filled with outstanding performances in 1A, Martinez stood out the most. In guiding the Bobcats to a 31-26 victory against Crosbyton, Martinez touched the ball 18 times and ran for 277 yards and five touchdowns.

Sellers

Six-Man Matthew Sellers, Loop

• Position: Running back

• Height/weight: 5-10, 165

• Classification: Junior

• Last week: Just when it seems six-man performances can’t get any better, along comes Sellers to push the envelope.Sellers could not be stopped in a 76-60 win over Amherst, carrying 31 times for 373 yards and nine touchdowns.
