Final Olton28, Sudan 7

Olton just wrapped up a 28-7 win over Sudan, the Mustang’s first playoff victory since 1990.

Senior quarterback Bobby Wayne Workman, accounting for 456 total yards and all four of Olton’s touchdowns. He also had a whale of a game defensively, shutting down talented Sudan receiver B.J. Davis from his defensive backfield position.

The Hornets, who were making their first post season appearance since 2004, got 121 yards from Fahron Nolte and a 63-yard touchdown pass from Taylor Soles to Derrick Williams. But they were hurt from three turnovers and failing to capitalize in the red zone.

Going into 4th quarter Olton 28, Sudan7

Olton picked up where it left off to start the second half, forcing a turnover on downs defensively and then putting together another methodical scoring drive. Quarterback Bobby Wayne Workman completed four consecutive passes during a seven play 83 yard drive, capping it with a nine yard scoring strike to Pecos Martin for a commanding 28-0 lead.

Sudan finally scored less than two minutes later, when speedster Derrick Williams turned a short screen pass into an electrifying 63 yard score. But that has been the only highlight for the Hornets who trail 28-7 going into the fourth quarter.

Olton is winning 21-0 over Sudan

It has been the Bobby Wayne Workman show so far. As the Olton Quarterback has sparked his team to a 21-0 lead midway through the 5-district playoff against Sudan. Workman completed 14 of 21 passes for 230 yards in the first half and he threw a 61 yard touchdown pass to Ryan Nieto during the final minute of the second quarter.

Workman also has rushed for 61 yards and two touchdown’s, along with making a handful of nice plays in the defensive backfield.

Sudan, meanwhile, gained only 124 total yards and five first downs in the first half while committing two turnovers. The Hornets had two great chances to score in the second quarter, getting inside the Olton ten yard-line, but the first position ended on downs and the second one ended in disaster, there was a bad snap on a field-goal attempt and Sudan kicker Bryan Rodriguez made a wild throw that was intercepted.

The Hornets need to turn things around in a hurry, or their season will soon be over.

Olton 14 vs. Sudan 0

Both offenses had long gains on their first plays from scrimmage, but both positions ended with a fumbles.

Olton then struck first on its second position driving 66 yards in 11 plays. Quarter back Bobby Wayne Workman converted two third downs with his arm during the drive, and he capped it with a tough ten yard run up the middle. Workman rushed for 37 yards in the first quarter and he threw for 120 yards.

Olton struck again on the third play in the first quarter after a long third down pass from Workman to Eli Perez, Workman ran it in from a couple yards out bringing Olton over Sudan 14-0.
