Two days after signing his national letter of intent with Texas Tech, Scotty Young was honored for his exploits at the high school level.

The Denton Ryan quarterback was named co-Offensive Player of the Year on the Texas Sports Writers Association/Collin Street Bakery Class 4A All-State Football Team, which was released Friday. Young, who shared the honor with Aledo running back Johnathan Gray, passed for 4,500 yards and 64 touchdowns with only 13 interceptions in 2009.

Denton Guyer defensive lineman Taylor Bible, a Texas signee who posted 24 tackles for loss, was named Defensive Player of the Year. Chad Morris of Austin Lake Travis earned Coach of the Year honors.

Two more future Red Raiders, Sulphur Springs offensive tackle Beau Carpenter and Schertz Clemens linebacker Zach Winbush, were honored by the TSWA. Carpenter made the second team, while Winbush received honorable mention.

Frenship offensive lineman Jordan Nichols, who signed a letter of intent with West Texas A&M on Wednesday, was the only player from the South Plains recognized by the TSWA. He received honorable mention.
