Frenship starts season on right track, takes the Snyder Invitational
SNYDER — The Frenship boys golf team started its spring season in style, winning the Division I championship on Saturday at the Snyder Boys Invitational.
The Tigers finished with a two-round score of 603, beating host Snyder by nine strokes.
Chad Meador and Blake Crowder led Frenship by posting identical scores of 148. Meador won a three-way playoff for second place, and Snyder’s Tanner Bragg beat Crowder for third place.
Snyder’s Colby Barrera won the individual title by four strokes after carding a final-round 69, the low round of the tournament.

SAN ANGELO — Coronado’s Mariah Montoya finished second on Saturday at the season-opening San Angelo Girls Golf Classic.
Montoya, who was in fourth place entering the final round, vaulted into second by firing a 70 at Quicksand Golf Course. The Oklahoma signee finished with a two-round score of 150, three strokes behind individual champion Chaslyn Chrismer of San Antonio MacArthur.
In the Orange Division, the Lady Mustangs finished eighth as a team with a score of 723. Monterey placed 15th at 881, and Lubbock High finished 16th at 957.
