Hot shot: Wentz leads Trinity Christian to win in regular-season finale
Parker Wentz poured in 24 points and continued to be clutch from the free-throw line, going 14 for 14, to lead Trinity Christian to a 61-53 victory over Argyle Liberty Christian in the TAPPS District 1-4A regular-season finale for the Lions.
Dave Miller chipped in 12 points and Matt Stephenson added 10 for the Lions (32-5, 9-1 in district), who finished in a first-place tie with Arlington Grace Prep. The teams will have a seeding playoff at 6 p.m. Monday at McMurry University in Abilene.
TCHS broke open a close game by outscoring Argyle Liberty 15-3 in the second quarter, then holding off the Warriors in the second half.
Christian Scofield led Argyle Liberty with 21 points and John Kornet added 14.
