Lady Westerners’ win means close shave for LISD swimming coach

When Trey Hayes risked his head of hair earlier this week, he didn’t expect to lose it.

Coronado’s Adam and Audrey Ruiz have a good chance to become the first siblings from Lubbock ISD to win district diving titles, according to LISD coach Penny DiPomazio. Both are on the short list of favorites heading [...]

Cox, Palombit pull off victories, but not in their usual events

Madisyn Cox might not have been the best all-around swimmer at the Pete Ragus Aquatic Center on Saturday, but the Lubbock High freshman certainly could make that argument.
Competing against girls from all over West Texas, along with parts of New Mexico and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, she proved to be the best sprinter and the [...]

Swimmers fall short of finals

AUSTIN – Lubbock ISD sent 10 swimmers to this weekend’s UIL Swimming & Diving State Championships, but none will compete in today’s finals.
Only the top eight swimmers in each of Friday’s preliminary races qualified for the finals, and Lubbock’s best finish came from Monterey’s Calley Parham, whose was 10th in the girls 100-yard freestyle.
Monterey’s Clayton [...]
